Philanthropy is one of the cornerstones of Kappa Alpha Theta. We host and participate in numerous philanthropy events throughout the year as well as completing hundreds of service hours per semester.

ABC Headstart
At the U of A, Thetas are proud to give their time and efforts to raising money and awareness for ABC Headstart. Each year we hold events to raise money for the organization, this fall we will be hosting “Flapjacks and Quarterbacks”. For over 25 years, ABC Head Start has offered a unique and strong family based program. We provide early learning, family and community supports to families living on a limited income. ABC Head Start families are provided opportunities to be included in their children's learning. We work together with families and community agencies to create positive learning and life experiences.

CASA
In 1989, Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity adopted National CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) as its national philanthropy. CASA volunteers are trained community volunteers who speak on behalf of abused and neglected children in court. They research the child’s background details to help the court make a sound decision about the child’s future. Since 1989, the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation has provided grant support and contributed more than $900,000 to CASA.

Service Sisters are required to complete at least 5 hours of service per semester, but the majority contributes much more of their time to various service organizations in order to bring the widest influence for good to the Edmonton community. Heart Pledge Day, the Edmonton Food Bank, and other various events and organization are how U of A Thetas actively contribute to the community.

This year, our chapter will be hosting two major events in support of our philanthropies, Flapjacks and Quarterbacks- a flag football tournament and pancake breakfast- and Rock the CASA.
More information about these events coming soon!
